-Here in Canada our first few months of the year are spent with rain, and quite often freezing and snowy weather. By now many of us have started to dream of a warm tropical vacation to relax and soak up the beauty and warmth of the beaches.

This is a perfect time to introduce March’s Birthstone, Aquamarine.  Also known as the Gemstone celebrated for the 16th and 19th Wedding Anniversary.

Aquamarine is a member of the Beryl family. It can be found in a range of shades, from a light pastel or sky blue to a beautiful tropical sea-green. Just like the Caribbean Ocean we have been longing for!!

Traditionally Aquamarine is associated with the Sea. ~I just new it!!

According to the legends, Aquamarine originated in the treasure chests of Mermaids, and has, since ancient times, been regarded with the Greeks and Roman’s as the Sailors’ Lucky Stone………… more

It was used by Sailors in amulets to keep them safe and prevent them from seasickness during Poseidon’s anger during rough seas and storms.

No doubt a beautiful calming color, with amazing healing properties.

Remembering this Gemstone will be an easy one for me.  When I start yearning for the warmth of the Tropics, where the Ocean is Aquamarine, I will pick up my favorite piece of Jewelry with this Gemstone.  Gaze at it for awhile then close my eyes. I may not be in that place I yearn, but that’s okay~I have what I need, and it will take me there whenever I wish.
