Black Star Diopside and Star of India is known by both names. When you look at the center of this Gemstone, you will notice a star pattern.
The milky quality of the stone is caused by the traces of the mineral rutile, which is also responsible for the star effect, known as asterism. The tiny fibers of the mineral, aligned in a three-fold pattern within the gem, reflect incoming light into the star pattern.
This Gem is only produced in Jewelry that comes from Nepal which unfortunately is very rare and hard to get, which is why I only have one Star of India Jewelry available at this time.
