Message of Peace Brings Birth of Opal-October’s Birthstone

Opal~October's Birthstone

Opal, October’s Birthstone, and the chosen Gem for the 14th and 18th Wedding Anniversary.

Recently I met up with my good friends Tmima and her husband Adi from Israel.

With them they brought their Beautiful Collection of Sterling Silver Jewelry many of which are man made Opals. As always I was so impressed and was able to pick some stunning pieces for my Silver Jewelry Collection~you will definitely fall in love with them.

Why man made I asked them?

Tmima explained, the most important reason why they prefer to use man made Opals in their Jewelry designs is because, they have no water which makes them more durable and harder than the natural occurring Opal.

This made total sense to me~as I once had a beautiful gold ring my Mom gave me on my 12th Birthday. It had pink Rubies and an Opal in the center. I wore this ring everyday up until quite a few years ago when the shank split. I took it to a Jeweler and he told me the Opal was completely worn. There wasn’t too much color left and it was quite dull.

If you still question why man made vs the real thing you may find this article very informative. Click here for the link.

These magnificent Opals from Israel are set into stunning sterling silver earrings, rings and watches with many pieces signed by the Designers who makes them. Their craftsmanship is exquisite and so affordable!

The colors are spectacular with specks of aqua, blues, greens, purples and pinks which all seem to come together beautifully with each movement.

  • Opal represents loyalty, happiness and confidence.
  • It also will increase your imagination and your knowledge of your dreams.
  • Opals are stones of hope and bringers of the virtues of innocence and purity.
  • Opals stimulate healing and increase friendship and healthful emotions
  • It is reported to be able to solve depressions and to help its wearer find the true and real love.

Pliny, Famous Roman Author, wrote this about the opal:

There is in them a softer fire than the ruby, there is the brilliant purple of the amethyst, and the sea green of the emerald – all shining together in incredible union. Some by their splendor rival the colors of the painters, others the flame of burning sulfur or of fire quickened by oil.

Legends of Opal:

According to the legends of the Australian Aborigines, the creator came down to Earth on a rainbow, in order to bring the message of peace to all the humans. And at the very spot, where his foot touched the ground, the stones became alive and started sparkling in all the colors of the rainbow. That was the birth of the Opal!!
